Providing relevance to, and support the development of, core professional competency; this seminar is designed to give students and graduates an overview of Quantity Surveying measurement. Content Outline

  • importance of having correct measurement techniques at different stages of a project.
  • introduction on basic measurement techniques covering major trades such as earthwork excavation, concreting (including concrete, formwork and reinforcement) and plastering works.
  • explanations and illustrations with examples of major trades with reference to HKSMM.

Patrick has been engaged in the Quantity Surveying field for over 40 years. During that time he has worked for many reputable corporations and organizations including the MTR (Mass Transit Railway Corporation) Hong Kong. He obtained his MSc in Construction Project Management, Hong Kong University, the BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying, University of Reading, UK.

Patrick is Fellow Member of the RICS, the HKIS, the HKICM, the Institute of International Management, the Hong Kong Institute of Facilities Management, the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and a Corporate Member of Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE).

Throughout his working life, Patrick has been involved in the teaching of young professionals who have a view to become Chartered Surveyors. He has been a part-time lecturer for THEi, HKCT, IVE, U of Central Lancashire, Baptist U, Heriot Watt U, CUHK, and HKU SPACE, focusing on the supervision of postgraduate dissertation students and those undertaking final year project. He currently works for the Construction Industry Council (CIC) as Part-time Lecturer in QS programmes and as a Mentor for UCEM. Patrick has also served as an assessor for the HKIS, RICS, CIOB and the HKIE.
